IDF Mixed Gender Swearing In Ceremony in Jerusalem, Israel
Jerusalem, Israel. 25th January, 2017. Israel Weapon Industries's TAR-21 'Tavors', bullpup assault rifles, are lined up in preparation for distribution to recruits in a ceremony. The Tavor is scheduled to replace the M16 rifle variants as the standard issued weapon of the Israeli infantry by the end of 2018. Amid heated debate on mixed gender military service and integration of ultra Orthodox Jewish men into the army, the IDF conducts its first mixed gender swearing in ceremony for November 2016 recruits of the Caracal Infantry Battalion at the Western Wall.
