2nd Temple Period Torah Scroll Unveiled in Jerusalem, Israel
Jerusalem, Israel. 20th July, 2015. Minister of Culture and Sport, MIRI REGEV, makes a comment as the Israel Antiquities Authority unveils a very rare, burned, piece of parchment, discovered 45 years ago in archaeological excavations in an ancient synagogue at Ein Gedi in the Judean Desert. With the aid of imaging and 3D modeling technologies provided by Prof. Brent Seales of the University of Kentucky, this finding was dated late 6th century and inscriptions deciphered as the first eight sentences of Leviticus 1 of a Torah scroll written in the Second Temple period.
