Passover 2017 in Jerusalem, Israel
Jerusalem, Israel. 5th April, 2017. Men have their hair cut in the Mea Shearim neighborhood in preparation for Passover, to be celebrated this year beginning sundown, 10th April, 2017. The 49 days between Passover and Shavuot constitute the Counting of the Omer, 'Sfirat HaOmer', a time of semi mourning, during which Jewish Law forbids haircuts, shaving, listening to instrumental music, or conducting weddings and parties. Mea Shearim is one of the oldest Jewish neighborhoods in Jerusalem and totally populated by ultra Orthodox haredi Jews.
