The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Haifa, Israel
Haifa, Israel. 6th February, 2018. Emir MUHAMMAD SHARIF ODEH, head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Israel, describes his view of Islam and the need of restoring its true essence and pristine form which had been lost through the centuries. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is estimated to be 1% of the Muslim community worldwide, a dynamic, fast growing international revival movement within Islam. Founded in 1889 in Punjab, British India, it spans over 200 countries with membership exceeding millions. Current headquarters are in the UK. The community sprung roots in Israel in 1924 building a mosque there in 1931. Some 2,200 adherents live in Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, the vast majority of them in the Kababir neighborhood of Haifa.
