Tel Aviv Jerusalem Fast Train Test Run in Modiin, Israel
Modiin Maccabim Reut, Israel. 16th January, 2018. Israeli Minister of Transportation, ISRAEL KATZ, stands at the locomotive door as he partakes in a test run of the new Tel Aviv Jerusalem Fast Train. Katz promised first train will run commercially before the Passover festival in late March 2018; “We will make it possible for multitudes of Jews to travel to Jerusalem”. The Tel Aviv Jerusalem rail project, estimated at NIS 7 billion, will cut train travel duration from 78 minutes on the old line built by the Ottomans to 28 minutes. Canadian/German Bombardier electric trains will reach speeds of 160 kilometers per hour carrying up to 1,000 passengers.
