New Israeli - Palestinian Shopping Mall in Jerusalem, Israel
Jerusalem, Israel. 8th January, 2019. Israeli business mogul RAMI LEVY’s (R) new shopping mall in Jerusalem's northern suburb of Atarot opens to serve Israelis and Palestinians. Surrounded by the Arab towns of Bet Hanina, Al Ram, the Qalandiya Refugee Camp and literally meters from the West Bank security barrier, as well as the Jewish neighborhoods of Neve Yaacov and Pisgat Zeev, the $53 million project, which spans 25,000 square meters with 50 stores has achieved 100% occupancy with some Palestinian run businesses despite security concerns and an Islamic call for boycott. The Atarot mall is Levy’s sixth West Bank commercial venture all having reputations as islands of coexistence where Palestinians and Israelis work and shop side by side.
