75 Years to the Revolt Against the British Mandate in Jerusalem, Israel
Jerusalem, Israel. 19th February, 2019. The Begin Heritage Center hosts a tour in Jerusalem at key locations marking 75 years to the February 1st, 1944, declaration of revolt against the British Mandate in Palestine by the leader of the Irgun underground, later to become prime minister of Israel, Menachem Begin. Jerusalem's King David Hotel is depicted where an attack was carried out on July 22, 1946, by the Irgun on the British administrative headquarters for Palestine in the southern wing of the hotel. In spite of an advance telephone warning 91 people of various nationalities were killed and 46 were injured.
