Thousands of physicians and medical students from around the country gathered at the Wohl Rose Garden in Jerusalem opposite the Knesset parliament building to protest their working conditions, wages and the future of the public health services. Demonstrators claim hospital physicians are required to work 26 to 30 hour shifts and doctors in clinics to see between 40-80 patients a day. Work conditions make it impossible to give quality care nor to maintain a normal life outside the medical institutions where they work.

Ministry of Finance officials have stalled negotiations claiming the physicians demands for raises irrational and are only willing to agree to differential raises that would benefit interns and younger doctors.
