20110717 Jerusalem Forest Fire Under Control
Six newly purchased aircraft took part in the efforts. These planes were purchased immediately after the Mt. Carmel forest fire in December 2010 in which over forty people lost their lives.
Six people were lightly injured from smoke inhalation.
Firefighting aircraft fly at low altitudes over the homes in Yefe Nof neighborhood to put out a forest fire that broke out in the Jerusalem Forest near the Pi-Glilot fuel terminal and storage tanks. 17th July 2011.
Ten firefighting teams from Jerusalem and Bet-Shemesh and six aircraft were deployed today to bring a forest fire under control. The fire broke out in the Jerusalem Forest near the Pi-Glilot fuel terminal and storage tanks greatly increasing the danger to nearby neighborhoods. Yad Vashem Museum was evacuated due to excessive smoke and residents in the nearby neighborhoods were instructed to stay inside with windows closed and be alert to emergency services' instructions.
