For the first time Jerusalem hosts the "Athena Women's Walk" event, now in its ninth year, empowering and encouraging women to choose an active and healthy lifestyle. The event is the result of a joint initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Sport, Athena – the Public Council for the Promotion of Women in Sports and the Jerusalem municipality. Thousands of women of all ages took part in an evening-walk along a 5km route covering Jerusalem's breathtaking sites and enchanting streets. Throughout the route D.J. stations and live music provided pace and atmosphere. Before and after the walk the Jaffa Gate to the Old City hosted a colorful sports festival with a spinning area, live drums, kickboxing and Zumba and Latino dance.
