The burial place of Sheikh Nuran, erected in the 19th century, served as a Turkish military post in World War I and was conquered by the British and renovated as a gesture of goodwill towards the Bedouins. Later it served as an Egyptian military post until conquered by Israel in its 1948 War of Independence. Located on a hill in Kibbutz Magen overlooking the Gaza Strip and the town of Khan Yunis, it served the kibbutz as a guard post.
