The building served for storage of weapons, communications, medical supplies and as a headquarters. The 13 meter high water tower stored 600 cubic meters of water to guarantee water supply when water lines were sabotaged. Following Israel's 1948 War of Independence Kibbutz Beeri was moved 3Km eastward.
