A temporary tourist information stand is deployed at Zahal Square just outside the Old City at the height of tourism season.
The Benedictine Dormition Abbey, Hagia Maria Sion, Dormition of Our Lady Monastery, on Mount Zion, just outside the Zion Gate. This Benedictine Basilica was built adjacent to the location of the Last Supper over the site where Virgin Mary is said to have fallen asleep for the last time. The land was bought by the German Emperor Wilhelm II from the Turkish Sultan Abdul Hamid in 1898. and construction was completed at the beginning of 20th century based on plans by Heinrich Renard. The first Benedictine monks arrived in 1906.
The Greek Patriarchate Cemetery is situated adjacent to the Dormition Abbey on Mount Zion.
