The Consul General of France in Jerusalem, Pierre Cochard, visits the Church of Saint Anne as part of a tour of French assets in Jerusalem. The church is a Roman Catholic church under the leadership of the White Fathers, located at the start of the Via Dolorosa near the Lions' Gate in the Muslim Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem. Traditionally the home of Anne and Joachim, parents of the Virgin Mary, the church was built over a crypt believed to be Mary’s birthplace. Depicted is the Pools of Bethesda archaeological site where excavations uncovered two pools, a Byzantine basilica and a crusader chapel. The big pools were used for collecting rainwater for the service of the Temple. It was near the small medicinal pool that Jesus is believed to have healed the paralytic.
