'Bein HaMetzarim' Mourns Destruction of Jewish Temples
A northward view from the City of David depicts the Al Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount. The City of David is an archaeological site and home to a park and visitor center managed by the Ir David Foundation, also known as Elad. This association openly aims to strengthen Jewish connection to Jerusalem, create a Jewish majority in Arab neighborhoods of East Jerusalem and renew the Jewish community in the City of David, which is also part of the Arab neighborhood of Silwan. The City of David is speculated to be the original urban core of ancient Jerusalem. Religious Jews are in the midst of observing the 'Three Weeks' or 'Bein HaMetzarim', a period of mourning over the destruction of the first and second Jewish Temples, a period that will climax on the ninth day of the Jewish month of Av, observed beginning the evening of 10th August, 2019.
